BISON REBORN

PRESERVATION OF AN EARLY AMERICAN NATIVE.

Endless herds of Bison once thundered across the plains. But ignorance and carelessness nearly erased them from history. And while it was man that nearly destroyed them, it was also man that brought them back from the brink of extinction. As the largest bison rancher in the world, Ted Turner had a keen interest in preserving the American bison.

Along with restaurateur George McKerrow Jr., these entrepreneurs conceived the idea of creating a restaurant company that would, in part, help protect the country’s population of bison by making it a viable commodity. Using bison raised on Turner’s ranches, as well as other bison ranches, Ted’s Montana Grill began serving naturally raised bison.

Today, there are more than 500,000 bison in the U.S. By creating a demand for the bison, ranchers have a reason to raise them. Ensuring the survival of the species and helping bring this majestic animal back to the West.
