Ted's Montana Grill plans to open a restaurant in downtown Boulder at 1701 Pearl St., which formerly was home to the Sunflower Restaurant that shuttered last year.

The 4,600-square-foot restaurant is expected to open in October and will be the 55th Ted's Montana Grill nationwide and the steakhouse chain's ninth in Colorado.

"The company has long-planned to open a restaurant in Boulder and has been waiting to find the right location," George McKerrow Jr., chief executive officer of Ted's Montana Grill, said in an e-mailed statement. "The location on Pearl Street is ideal."

Based in Atlanta, Ted's Montana Grill is co-owned by McKerrow and media and business mogul Ted Turner.
